RUBY Project Management will provide Construction Management services for the expansion of the Černý Most Shopping Centre, which initially opened in 1997 as the first shopping centre in the Czech Republic. For us, this is on a long term basis of cooperation with Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, for whom we have previously managed the new build works and major redevelopment and expansion of the Westfield Chodov shopping centre in the past.
With the expansion, shoppers can look forward to 20 new stores and improvements for fashion offerings. There will also be new flagship formats of popular brands.
The work will take place in the north-eastern part of the site with an emphasis on minimizing the impact on traffic and customer convenience, with a grand opening scheduled for autumn 2025.
The Černý Most Centre places a strong emphasis on sustainability and therefore the construction works will recycle and reuse dismantled components such as railings and parts of the façade. The construction works will follow the BREEAM standard Excellent and will utilise water recycling, solar panels, air recovery and more environmental features.
The 9,100 sqm expansion of the centre will bring new signage and will enhance the fashion, dining and entertainment offerings. The foodcourt will also undergo a significant change and will be completely relocated to the first floor along with a Dining Plaza concept with unique atmosphere and high service standards. There will be 22 diverse restaurants with ceramic tableware and an increase in the number of restaurants with full service. The concept will also include a children's playroom.
The second pillar of services is entertainment-oriented and will expand the range of CineStar multiplex cinema for demanding customers. Visitors will be able to refresh themselves before the show in the luxury lounge or put their belongings in the cloakroom. During the show, refreshments ranging from classic popcorn and nachos as well as mini burgers and sushi. The rooms will be equipped with reclining seats with tables and supported with Dolby Atmos sound.
